CGI celebrates 50 years and looks to the future, driving innovation and collaboration between Canada and Spain.

Our member CGI celebrates 50 years of history in 2026. Founded in 1976, the company is now present in 40 countries, has 94,000 professionals globally, and maintains a firm commitment to talent, innovation, and strengthening relations between Canada and Spain.

Since its founding in 1976, CGI has evolved to become one of the world’s largest independent IT and business consulting services companies. It combines a global delivery model with deep local knowledge, allowing it to build long-term relationships of trust and help its clients accelerate their transformation and face increasingly complex technological, operational, and business challenges.

Spain has been part of this history for more than two decades. With 1,500 professionals, CGI is today one of the Canadian companies that generates the most skilled employment in Spain, where it provides services to a large portion of IBEX 35 companies, as well as to numerous public and private organizations.

Innovation has always been one of the driving forces of CGI’s growth. Its alliance ecosystem includes collaborations with more than 150 technology companies, which, together with its more than 200 proprietary solutions, allows it to help clients accelerate their digital transformation through advanced capabilities in artificial intelligence, data analytics, cloud, automation, and cybersecurity, among others.

The celebration of CGI’s 50th anniversary, under the slogan ‘Building what’s next’, has been an opportunity to highlight the close relationship between Canada and Spain. To mark this occasion, at the end of June, CGI welcomed His Excellency Mr. Jeffrey Marder, Ambassador of Canada to Spain and Andorra, to its Madrid offices, accompanied by members of his team and the Board of Directors of the Canada-Spain Chamber of Commerce.

During the visit, attendees toured CGI’s facilities in Madrid, where the company also has a Spain Delivery Center made up of nearly 500 professionals. They then held a dialogue with CGI’s management team in Spain, led by Alberto Anaya, General Manager and Business Unit Leader of CGI for Spain and Italy, addressing opportunities to continue strengthening collaboration between Canada and Spain.

From the Chamber, we join in celebrating this important milestone and recognize CGI’s contribution to strengthening economic and technological relations between both countries. This commitment to innovation and collaboration will continue to generate new opportunities in the coming years.
