The Canada–Spain Chamber of Commerce (CCCE), in collaboration with the Embassy of Canada to Spain and ICEX / Invest in Spain, hosted a new edition of the Canada Trade and Investment Panel, a biannual forum that has become a key space for analyzing and strengthening economic relations between both countries.
The opening session was presided over by Elisa Carbonell, CEO of ICEX Invest in Spain, and Jeffrey Marder, Ambassador of Canada to Spain. Both highlighted the excellent momentum in bilateral trade relations, particularly in strategic sectors such as renewable energy, technology, and agribusiness.
During the event, it was noted that Canada has become the 12th largest investor in Spain, with more than 700 Canadian-owned companies established in the country, generating a stock of foreign direct investment (FDI) exceeding €12 billion and employing around 23,000 people.
“Now is an excellent time for Canadian companies to strengthen their presence in Spain, given the very promising results we are achieving through increasingly advanced and productive forms of foreign investment,” said Elisa Carbonell.
The forum also addressed the global projection of Canadian investment, highlighting that Canada currently ranks fourth worldwide as a source of foreign direct investment.
Two roundtables provided the opportunity to further explore the international investment landscape and present business success stories from both countries.
In his first official engagement, the new President of the Canada–Spain Chamber of Commerce, Nicolas Mazzoli, Country Head of RBC Capital Markets in Spain, emphasized the importance of reinforcing trade ties between Canada and Spain and consolidating strategic alliances in today’s shifting geopolitical context.
The Chamber extends its sincere thanks to all participants for their presence and commitment to strengthening this bilateral economic relationship, which continues to grow with strength and a future-oriented vision.
